Public Transportation - 002

The Effect of Good Weather

I was riding PATCO into Philly on Saturday afternoon. I parked my car with only a few minutes until the westbound train arrived at the Haddonfield station. I whipped out my Freedom Card at the fare gate and wham, insufficient funds. I ran to the machine and added $20.00 to my account.

When I walked down to the platform, I noticed it was oddly packed. Camera in my sling bag (Bellroy), I saw a father holding his small daughter. I raised the camera, a little above my hip, to clear the glass-swinging door. I looked at my display and knew I had captured something so precious.

When I got home to edit the photo, I noticed the accidental composition was perfect. The glare of the glass near the faces of the subjects as they looked off over the tracks. When I look at the photo, not only am I reminded of the moment—that maybe I should try to be late more often, but I also get a sense of peace.
